Wyonna is the founder of the award winning Chenaulte’ Competitive Dance Team.  Named after her deceased parents Angela N. and Clarence Chenault, Jr., the name Chenaulte’ is a French derivative of their last name. The organization was founded in 1994.

 

Wyonna began dancing at the age of seven.  She studied and competed with the Ann Chesman School of Dance, Fantasy Flyers Dance Company and the Dakota-Ettes Dance & Drill competitive dance team for eleven years.  She has participated on several all-star teams in four nationally televised bowl games and performances including performances at Disney’s Epcot Center.

 

Ms. Chenault studied dance  and communication at Sinclair Community College.   She has coached the Wilberforce University Jazzers Competition Dance Team and developed and directed the Sinclair Community College Dance Team also known as the SCC Dance Team.  In 2005, she revamped and reorganized the Chenaulte’ Dancers Competition Dance Team and in 2005 opened “The Studio” Home of the Chenaulte’ Dancers.  The organization welcomes dance enthusiast of all ages and serves as the primary training center for the Chenaulte’ Dancers Competitive Squads.  To date she has choreographed many regional, state and national championship award winning routines as well as many “Top Honors” award winning national soloist routines including several national soloist crowned titlist.  In 2007 and 2017 Ms. Chenault was name Director of the year by Showcase America Unlimited. 

 

In addition to directing the award winning Chenaulte’ Dancers, Wyonna serves as a certified judge for Ameridance and was named a member of the Showcase America Unlimited Board of Trustees. 

 

Wyonna currently teaches dance at Dunbar Early College High School in Dayton Ohio.
