Tasha’ra Letrice Maye was born on February 18, 1997 in Dayton, Ohio. At a very young age of ten months she begins to walk which quickly advanced to movements in dance. At the age of six she was in gym class at school and the director of Silver Express Drill team witnessed her creative movements. That particular moment began her journey which would lead her into the field of dance later in life. As the youngest member of the team she expressed her passion and dedication which lead her to a captain position. She traveled across the states performing in various drill team competitions. Achieving several commendations and awards for excellent leadership and showmanship, Tasha’ra continued with Silver Express until they retired in summer of 2005.

Tasha’ra at age ten was recommended to adventure into dance with the Chenaulte Dance Studio. New to the field of dance she was eager to learn the different techniques. She attended a summer dance camp at Ohio Dominican University. Like a human sponge she grasped a hold of the fundamentals of dance. Auditions just a week after returning from camp she made the team. As well as  becoming a leader in dance ministry with her church. Tasha’ra held a leadership role as Captain of the team for five years, won several state and national awards including title of Miss Dance Drill Ohio in 2012.

Upon acceptance into Stivers dance department she focused more on the technical abilities of dance, learning and studying all genres of dance including ballet.

It would take lots of discipline and hard work to get where she is now. As a junior at Stivers she has now ventured into the professional dance world. Tasha’ra performs within her community as well as outside of her community. Tasha’ra has attended The Reed Dance Intensive for many years which is held in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania.
